Stewardship of mission, institutional integrity, finances, governance, and long-term direction.
ACFP exists to bring continuing education, scholarship, standards, community, and distinction into one enduring professional institution.
The field has expertise, research, accomplished practitioners, and enormous public value. What it has often lacked is institutional coherence: a place where education continues, standards mature, scholarship reaches practice, and professional identity is cultivated over time.
The American College of Fitness Professionals was founded to help supply that structure. Its central work is in person continuing professional education, supported by scholarship, ethical standards, membership, leadership, and recognition.
A college is a body of colleagues joined by learning, standards, and a common professional purpose.
ACFP uses the word in that historic sense. The College is a professional membership and continuing education institution. It is not a university and does not presently confer academic degrees. Prestige without honesty is merely costume.
We pursue that mission by convening exceptional education, translating scholarship into practice, articulating standards, cultivating professional community, and recognizing meaningful contribution.
The measure is not how impressive the College appears. The measure is whether association with it makes members better prepared, more thoughtful, more responsible, and more useful to the people they serve.
Stewardship of mission, institutional integrity, finances, governance, and long-term direction.
Oversight of continuing education, faculty standards, scholarship, publications, and academic relationships.
Development of ethics, continuing competence, recognition, and responsible practice frameworks.
The practitioners, educators, scholars, and leaders through whom the College’s work becomes real.
The College is in its founding stage. Initial appointments, governing documents, committee charters, and conflict-of-interest standards are in development and will be published as adopted.
ACFP welcomes serious conversations with educators, researchers, practitioners, institutions, employers, and professional organizations that share the ambition.
